Sessions Weighs in on Tax Reform 2.0

In an Opinion post today on TheHill.com, Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) called for further action on tax reform, noting that “…our work isn’t done. We need another round of reforms – focused on middle-income families.” Rep. Sessions’ remarks singled out the need to modernize key facets of Social Security, most notably elimination of the program’s “Earnings Test” provision that ends up being a “draconian tax enforced by the IRS” and places an unfair burden on workers.

Rep. Sessions’ remarks also called for Medicare improvements, including telemedicine and concierge-type arrangements with primary care physicians, as well as a series of tax law changes and health care policies aimed at making things better for seniors and working families. His remarks also include a call to make the Tax Reform provisions enacted last December permanent so that the benefits already seen can endure.
