Social Security’s financial woes: Here’s how you can protect yourself

It’s no secret by now that Social Security has some financial issues which, if not addressed by Congress soon, will eventually have an impact on your Social Security benefits, but with the political climate existing in Congress today it’s hard to predict that the issue will be resolved any time soon. So what can you do in case Congress doesn’t get its act together and fix Social Security?  As this Motley Fool article by Maurie Backman explains, you can create a backup plan to protect yourself if your Social Security benefits are some day reduced due to Congress’ inaction.
