“Un-retirement”? More and more retirees are returning to the work force

When you’re working full time and dealing with stressful 40-plus hour work weeks filled with issues, it’s easy to conjure up an image of retirement as spending your days absorbed in a book in the shade of swaying palm trees on a white sand beach, followed by early-bird specials at a favorite restaurant.  But many of those who follow that image when they retire find that it’s not as fulfilling as they thought it would be,  Many of those people “un-retire” and return to the workforce, because they find they need more in their life.  This Kaiser Health News article by Bruce Horovitz explains how about 39% of Americans over 65 and still working – even into their 80’s – have previously retired, and then decided that returning to work would give them the more fulfilling lifestyle they seek.  Click here to read more.
