Stimulus Checks Set to Begin Arriving Today?

  1. I get ssi and a widow pension on my direct exspess card. And i just wanted to know when i would receive my stimulus payment is it possible i will get on the same day i will get my regular payment..

    • Linda,
From what the IRS has said, if you get your SSI and SS survivor benefit via Direct Express, you will get your stimulus payment in the same manner. But they have not shared details of the timing for these payments.
The economic impact payment process is administered by the IRS, and we are not privy to the details of the IRS process. You can check the status of your stimulus payment by going to IRS.gov and clicking on Where’s My Payment. If your payment has been processed it will tell you when your payment is being sent or, if already sent, when it was to have been received.

      • I’m sorry to say but they told me yes at first ……. Now I’m all screwed up because they told me that I have to go get a card but I don’t even know what it was now ……. But yeah for some reason I can’t do that now ……..

The most recent statements we’ve seen indicate that the stimulus payments will be deposited the same way as your social security benefits are deposited. From that, and absent a definitive statement from IRS or SSA, we would conclude that yes, your payment will be added to your Direct Express card. Watch this website for any specific announcements regarding the use of Direct Express for delivery of stimulus payments.

  2. Is disibitly. People on that getting check? Low income dont file taxes should get something do we get a check? Ssi?

Assuming you are receiving your SSDI payments through direct deposit they already have what they need to route your stimulus payment. According to the publications we’ve been checking, there is nothing further you need to do, and the payment should be made the same way your SSDI payments are received. If you do not receive your SSDI through direct deposit, and you haven’t filed income tax returns in 2018 or 2019, you shuold use the IRS “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here” web portal to submit your information so the IRS knows where to direct the payment. You can access this web portal at this address: https://www.freefilefillableforms.com/#/fd/EconomicImpactPayment.

  3. I am on SSDI ,I am married and my husband is my caretaker. And he does not work or draw any money otherwise. Will we still be only getting the 1,200 ?

    • Julie:

The provisions of the “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act” stipulate that Americans having a valid Social Security number, are not dependents on someone else’s tax return, and meet certain income guidelines will receive direct cash assistance. Based on these criteria, you should both be eligible for the $1200 payment.

The short answer is yes, assuming you are not listed as a dependent on someone else’s return. The most recent statements we’ve seen indicate that stimulus checks will be deposited the same way Social Security and SSI benefits are deposited. So, we believe you can expect your payment to arrive just like your SSI payment.
