Where is Social Security on the priority list? - Unleash Prosperity

Yesterday’s Unleash Prosperity Hotline (#1634) included survey results from Morning Consult, a global decision intelligence and AI company that provides real-time consumer data, brand monitoring, and public opinion polling, assessing the question of “What voters want the next Congress to tackle first.” Despite growing Social Security insolvency fears across America’s senior landscape, that topic didn’t make the top 15. View the list presented in the Unleash Prosperity post here.

Given that whatever happens as Social Security hurtles toward a cliff will affect more than 70 million Americans, it’s a bit surprising that the voting public neglected to single this one out for congressional attention. Less than six years of runway remains to set a direction to “save” Social Security, and every passing month makes the clock tick louder.

It may be simply that the voting public at large remains uninformed of the perils that lie ahead for Social Security, or that reaching insolvency would push millions of seniors below federal poverty lines. Those with a stake in this rapidly evolving problem need to make their voices heard more clearly by their representatives in the new congressional session.
