A Different Look at Retirement

Richard H. Cobden, M.D., a board certified orthopedic surgeon and former chief of staff of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, offers a thought provoking look at the importance of remaining in an active state in one’s later years. In delivering his message, Dr. Cobden uses a real life story involving his father, a man who worked decades past a mandatory retirement age to continue active engagement in a profession. Dr. Cobden’s premise is summed up with this quote, “So maybe it’s not such a bad thing that people like my father and others decide not to retire when they have the option or desire to continue working.
