Congressman Lance Speaks in Berkeley Heights

Congressman Leonard Lance (NJ-07) held his 33rd town hall meeting on Monday, May 4, in town hall. A small but interested and knowledgeable crowd who came from many towns in his district asked questions that covered a variety of topics….On the topic of Social Security, Lance said he did not favor eliminating the payroll tax cap, but prefers raising the cap gradually, over time, as has been done in the past. He does, however, “believe that we should raise the retirement age for people in their 20s and younger” as has been done in the past. When Social Security started, life expectancy was lower than it is today and the age at which one would get full benefits was 65; today that figure is 67, he said. Read more…
