Looking at the Deficit Numbers

With tax revenue of $211 billion in October netted against a federal spending level of over $347 billion, you get a clear picture of exactly what deficit spending is. Looked at another way, each individual worker in the U.S. contributed $1,415 that month, while federal spending accounted for $2,331 for every worker. Of course, it doesn’t work out quite that way, but an analysis of the Monthly Treasury Statement of Receipts and Outlays of the United States Government will give you a full look at what comes in and what goes out.
