Ageism in the Workplace
Workplaces are becoming more and more diverse in their age demographics. Your workplace ‘peers’ may be decades younger or older than you. This could be cause for a rift in intergenerational offices stemming from stereotypes. Some of the more common ones center around the laziness of Millennials or the technological illiteracy of Baby Boomers. Studies have shown that these stereotypes are far from true. In reality almost everyone in the workplace will hold the same ideals and share a similar code of ethics. It has also been very important historically to keep up with the technology in your field of work for threats of falling behind and becoming obsolete meaning that Boomers are well versed in mastering newer technology over the years.
