New SSA/VA record sharing initiative part of a larger eHealth project

Fittingly on Veterans Day, it was announced that the VA and the Social Security Administration have collaborated to speed up processing of veterans’ SSDI applications.   This is done by now transferring veterans’ health records to the SSA electronically, rather than the previous manual method which sometimes took months.  This new SSA/VA program is actually part of a larger initiative called eHealth Exchange, an element of “The Sequoia Project” whose objective is a nationwide health information exchange.  This informational article by Benjamin Krause appeared at www.disabledveterans.org.  Click here to read more.
