Social Security: A Primer on the Fundamentals

Social Security has implications for all of us, but especially for younger folks. While those at or nearing retirement age have a keen interest in the benefits available to them, the Millennial Generation (those with birth dates from the early 1980s to late 1990s) and those comprising Generation X (birth dates from the late 1970s to early 1980s) have a much different perspective. Their view is necessarily focused on planning their finances around a range of income-producing sources for their retirement years, but it is compounded by the increasing possibility that they will need to provide assistance to parents and other family members at some pint in their lifetimes. So, it’s becoming more and more critical for younger generations to have a sound grasp on Social Security, its benefits, and its limitations.
