Do you know enough about Social Security?

For so many Americans, Social Security is a fundamental part of financial solvency in their retirement years. In fact, as explained on the Social Security Administration’s website, “With retirement, disability, and survivors benefits, Social Security is one of the most successful anti-poverty programs in our nation’s history.” And yet, despite the critical role that this earned benefit program plays in the lives of America’s seniors, surveys seem to repeatedly point out that a relatively low percentage of Americans actually understand Social Security’s very basic rules. (Take a look at a fairly recent MassMutual quiz and see how you fare.)

Sean Williams of The Motley Fool has taken this issue to heart, presenting a recap of “10 Things to Know About Social Security Before You Retire” in an article posted today on www.fool.com. Read Williams’ article here, and know that the AMAC Foundation stands ready to assist anyone having questions about how Social Security applies to their situation.
