Some good reasons to start Social Security at 62
Nearly everyone knows that 62 is the magic age when you can start your Social Security benefits, and most also know that if you start them earlier your payment will be smaller than if you waited until your full retirement age (as defined by Social Security). It’s certainly tempting, if you can afford it, to wait until later and get that larger benefit. But there are also a lot of reasons why waiting for that bigger check won’t necessarily get you more in total benefits than if you start earlier.
