Deciding when to claim your Social Security benefit is one of the most important financial decisions you’ll ever make, but far too many people make that decision without evaluating the financial ramifications of doing so. To be sure, the age at which you claim shouldn’t only consider the financial consequences, because your health and your current expense needs must be looked at as well. But doing a break-even analysis of the total benefits you will receive by claiming at several different ages can go a long ways to help you decide when to claim your benefits.
