More than a third of Americans say the pandemic altered their retirement plans
In the latest Harris Poll conducted on behalf of The Nationwide Retirement Institute, they found most Americans believe it is more important to optimize Social Security now than it was before COVID pandemic and more than one in four who are eligible say the pandemic has caused them to change their decision on when to file for benefits. The survey also found adults across generations lack a basic understanding of Social Security benefits and ways to maximize those benefits. Along with lack of knowledge, the survey found a majority of adults worried Social Security would run out of funding in their lifetime and many feel they will need to continue working because Social Security won’t pay enough.
