More on the Stimulus Checks: An Update on Payment Schedules
CNET Editorial Director Jessica Dolcourt provides an update in this post on the latest scheduling for stimulus payments to Social Security beneficiaries, SSI beneficiaries, and veterans and retired railroad workers. She notes that those who have not received payments via direct deposit by today (3/24) should expect a paper check in the mail, something that “… could take days or weeks for checks to fully make it through the USPS, which is currently experiencing delays. Her article also points out that “… The IRS says it’s working with the Social Security Administration and Railroad Retirement Board to get data and the SSA promises a Q&A page “soon.” Read her full article here…
This is incompetence of the highest order…..the pandemic has been ongoing for a year. ALL the governmental agencies have known what they needed to do in this time of uncertainty and struggle for lower income, retired, disabled and vets. They are acting all surprised when just 2 and a had months ago I got my $600 in my Direct Express within days.
We are in trouble out here. We had to scramble to prevent electric cutoff. There are no protections to prevent this or evictions. I live in Mississippi, our local charities are overwhelmed, my spouse and I make $700 over the FPL, so not eligible for ANYTHING but a few groceries from our Catholic charity. We owe property taxes, flood insurance, several high interest loans, etc. And we are not alone.
I hope our reps in DC can get these agencies to get their act together. I read SSA had hired thousands of employees to help, so what gives\? I have been trying to check my spousal benefits app sent 7 weeks ago and cannot find anything on their site.
Thanks for the opportunity to vent-my spouse and I are very stressed each day. Coming up on hurricane season sooooo.
