The Pros and Cons of Medicare Advantage (“Part C”) Plans
As we roll into what’s often called “open enrollment” (which starts on October 15th) the TV airwaves will show many ads by insurance companies anxious to get you to buy a Medicare Advantage plan from them. Those ads will include many enticing offers, such as “zero” premiums, rebates on your Medicare Part B premium, better coverage then “original Medicare” and so on. But Medicare Advantage plans also come with restrictions on who you can use for healthcare services and substantial coinsurance payments, so it’s very important to carefully evaluate whether taking a Medicare Advantage plan over so-called Original Medicare is right for you.
