CATO Assesses What Was Missing from the 8/23 Republican Candidates Debate
CATO Institute’s Adam Michel, in a post issued yesterday, notes that despite a range of topics addressed in the August 23 debate by the eight 2024 Republican Presidential candidates, only a few passing mentions touched on tax policy. Specifically, he notes that commentary among the candidates about the historic 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act was “almost entirely absent.” As a refresher, his post contains a recap of the Act, along with suggestions for items that should be considered by candidates in the 2024 race, among them the importance of Universal Savings Accounts (USAs) and their intent to bolster savings by taxpayers. Check out Michel’s post here.
