Changes coming to Social Security’s online services

The portal for millions of Social Security beneficiaries to access their online account is changing. People will no longer be able to sign in to their online Social Security account using their existing username and password. To access Social Security online services, you will need to create a Login.gov or ID.me account. If you have a My Social Security account that started before Sep 18, 2021, you must go back in and start over. And if you’ve never registered there, it’s time to do so. Note, the new login requirements do not affect monthly benefit checks. Having an on-line account is a huge help in figuring out when to start Social Security benefits.
