For many folks, and for so many years, the thought of retirement meant leaving the stress and pressure of a workforce career behind and downshifting to a life of leisure devoid of demands and obligations. While some may still have this vision of their “golden years,” it seems many are evolving to a different perspective. A post on cnbc.com by contributing writer Jessica Dickler explores the changes in retirement stereotypes emerging in the 21st Century, most noticeably the growing emphasis on the importance of a “more active and adventurous lifestyle” in retirement and the also-growing expectation of never fully leaving the workforce.
