You can start collecting Social Security benefits at 62, but it will be 30% lower than if you waited until your Full Retirement Age. For anyone born in 1960 or later your Full Retirement Age is 67. On the other hand, if you wait until you are older, up to age 70, you can earn Delayed Retirement Credits of 8% per year. This will make your benefit at age 70 24% higher than at age 67.
