Social Security Commissioner Assumes Additional Role

Earlier this week, the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and Acting Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service Scott Bessent announced that recently-appointed Social Security Commissioner Frank Bisignano will assume the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The announcement noted that Bisignano’s additional responsibilities will include “managing the organization and overseeing all day-to-day IRS operations while also continuing to serve in his role as Commissioner of the Social Security Administration.” In this role, he will report directly to Secretary Bessent.
