Continuing Improvements at SSA

In his continuing quest to improve customer service at the Social Security Administration, Commissioner Frank J. Bisignano announced yesterday that SSA is bringing Continuing Disability Reviews (CDRs) back in-house and under direct management by the agency. CRS’s, formerly done by Disability Determination Services (DDS) units each U. S. state, will now be done directly by the SSA, thus streamlining the entire process and leading to faster service for disability beneficiaries. According to the Commissioner, this is one more step towards operational excellence, reducing improper payments, and providing best-in-class service to Americans on disability. State DDS units will still have a role in handling initial disability claims and reconsideration requests, all of which will lead to better customer service. Click here to read SSA’s Press Release.
