A change is coming to how you can receive your Social Security payments - msn.com

The issuing of paper Social Security checks is being stopped completely by September 30, 2025. Social Security originally stopped paper checks and went to direct deposit as of May 1, 2011, to reduce cost. Since that time if you wanted to receive a paper check you had to be able to supply Social Security with a good reason why you couldn’t use direct deposit or a debit card. As of today’s date, approximately 456.000 Americans still receive Social Security checks by mail.
In fact “All executive departments and federal agencies instead must make payments via direct deposit, debit/credit card payments, digital wallets, and real-time transfers. Payments made to the federal government, such as fees, fines, loans, and taxes, will also be processed electronically.” per author Liliana Hall.
