A Look at Differences in Retirement Savings Rates

American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Andrew G. Biggs examines the disparity in rates of saving among various population segments in an article posted today on www.aei.org. In his article, Biggs offers conjecture on why middle class savings rates outpace the rates found in the lower levels of the country’s income distribution, contrasting the income replacement percentages produced by Social Security as a partial answer to the question of why some population segments don’t save more, as well as life expectancy rates of various demographic groupings.
