A To-Do List for Congress - PBS NewsHour
Well, it’s last on the list, but Social Security (and Medicare) reform made it onto Congress’s 2026 priorities list… at least on the list of pressing congressional matters compiled by PBS NewsHour correspondent Lisa Desjardins and posted on their website yesterday. Working down the list of weighty issues, Ms. Desjardins introduces Social Security and Medicare, charging Congress to “Deal with the tough stuff,” while fully acknowledging the difficulty of doing so.
Will it happen? One of her closing lines, of course, puts a sort of reality check on the matter: “… my task here is to create a list of what needs to be done, not what will be done.” Like we said, reality check. Read her post here…
