Americans Are Lagging with Retirement Savings - CBS News

Probably not a revelation, but over half of working Americans believe they are behind when it comes to retirement savings, not surprisingly with the largest concerns expressed by those closest to retirement. These heightened feelings have been fueled by soaring inflation over the past several years, as well as by concerns over the extent to which Social Security will provide retirement income. Indeed, concerns over Social Security’s financial status contributes to about 72% of Americans not even counting on Social Security to be a part of their retirement plan.
