Are You Counting On Social Security to Be There?

A recent survey reveal that a full 87% of future retirees believe that Social Security will become an important source of income during their retirement. That’s a sizable portion of America’s workforce, but are they safe in assuming Social Security will actually be there when they enter their so-called “golden years?”  Well, yes, no doubt that Social Security will still be there, but how much it pays may be less than expected unless Congress takes action soon to restore Social Security to solvency. Fact is, Social Security is facing some financial issues in the not too distant future, as related in this article by Maurie Backman appearing in the York News-Times.
