Many employers offer what’s commonly referred to as a “401(k)” plan which allows an employee to contribute pre-tax dollars to their future retirement savings, with the employer also contributing a percentage of the employees contribution. Sometimes an employer will even match the employee’s contribution 100%, but in any case that employer contribution is essentially free money targeted at securing your future retirement. Sort of a “no brainer” right?  Why then do about one-third of all employees neglect to take advantage of the 401(k) plan their employer offers?
