It is very easy to make mistakes when filing for your Social Security benefits, and unfortunately these mistakes could greatly affect your retirement in a negative way. Some mistakes, such as mistakes in your earnings records, could cost you a lot of the money you are entitled to and could take years or decades to discover, at which point there could be nothing you can do to fix it.
