Congressional Budgeting Process Under Review - NTUF
A bipartisan bill recently introduced in Congress would seek to improve Congress’s budget process while addressing the nation’s long-term fiscal challenges. The “Budgeting for a Better America Act (BBAA)” (H.R. 9452) submitted by Representatives Steve Womack (R-AR), Ed Case (D-HI), Bill Huizenga (R-MI), and Scott Peters (D-CA) would potentially modify Congress’s oversight capabilities and pave the way for identifying waste, improving program performance, and informing reforms before fiscal problems become more difficult and costly to address. The National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF), in a post yesterday on their website, suggested that the proposed legislation “… provides a framework that encourages earlier and more accountable budget decisions.” Click here to read more about the proposed legislation and its impact on programs like Social Security and Medicare.
