Congressman: Greek crisis a ‘stern warning’ to U.S. government

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed (R-NY) issued a statement on Tuesday, calling the Greek debt crisis a “stern warning” to the U.S. and strongly suggesting that D.C. leaders act quickly to work toward a balanced budget and to stop the massive spending that he said is sending the country down a similar path.

“We should view the crises in Greece and Puerto Rico as canaries in the coal mine,” Reed said. “Countries around the world are over-promising and financing obligations with borrowing. You can’t live on credit forever. People are beginning to question why their leaders didn’t prevent these problems.”   Read more…
