Contrasting View: Taking Social Security at 62 is wrong - Yahoo! Finance

In contrast to yesterday’s Headline Article at this website – “Should You Claim Social Security at 62?” – this article by financial guru Suze Ormond argues that, in most instances, you should not claim Social Security at age 62 but rather wait until at least your full retirement age to claim. Ms. Orman explains that your benefit at age 62 be 30% less for life, and you will lose out on the opportunity to snag a much higher potential monthly benefit by waiting longer, even until age 70, to claim. Planning for your retirement is key, and evaluating the “best” age to claim your Social Security should look at your health and your marital status, as well as you more immediate financial need. In most cases, according to this Yahoo! Finance article, waiting longer to claim is a better option – especially for married couples.
