Eight Decades of Social Security

Social Security has been a huge boon to those that needed it in its history. Before its implementation, as many as half of all seniors lived in poverty and the numbers show as many or more would be in the same situation today. The most dangerous thing threatening Social Security today is its dwindling fund and insolvency, exacerbated by the fact that the government keeps using the fund as a loan for other programs. Social Security is widely regarded as a great service in this country and something that needs to be sustained, yet is rarely talked about on political platforms.
