False Alarm: Current Beneficiaries do NOT need to Re-Identify in Person!

A public service announcement from the AMAC Foundation

“Yes, you’ll have to verify your identity to keep getting Social Security.” This excerpt from a YouTube post has created a bit of a stir among the more than 70 million current Social Security benefit recipients who’ve previously applied for and have been receiving benefits. Unfortunately, it’s an example of an incorrect interpretation of recent announcements concerning changes in identity verification requirements for new benefit applications. Rest assured, if you are an established beneficiary, you are not required to report to a Social Security office in person to prove your identity.

We are pleased to have the opportunity to serve you via the AMAC Foundation’s Social Security Advisory Service, a program we offer to the public free of charge. The AMAC Foundation is a 501(3)(c) non-profit organization, operating completely on financial contributions from the public.
