Forget the COLA. Shaving small amounts in your budget can yield more

Much has been in the news recently as experts speculate that the Social Security cost of living adjustment (COLA) due to be announced in October could be among the highest in a decade.  But the reality is the COLA does a poor job of allowing beneficiaries to maintain their standard of living.  As The Motley Fool’s Maurie Backman notes, you may be better off taking steps to boost your own income by shaving a bit from a magazine you subscribe to and rarely read or by dialing back the cable plan.  Read more here….
