Government Imposter Scams on the Rise (Again)

Maybe it’s just the time of the year, or maybe it’s fraudsters seeking to take advantage of the elevated confusion in so many areas of the economy, but the Social Security Administration has launched renewed emphasis on combatting the growing pace of fraudulent activity facing Americans. Specifically, the Inspector General for the Social Security Administration, Gail S. Ennis, is designating Thursday, March 4, 2021 as National “Slam the Scam” Day, to raise public awareness of government imposter telephone scams across the United States.  Mercy Owusu, a digital journalist for ABC4.com, provides more information on this subject in a post on www.abc4.com.
