Happy Birthday Social Security!

Today is a big day for American’s most important social program. On August 14, 1935, then President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act into law. The primary focus of the Social Security Act was to provide a guaranteed monthly benefit to aged workers during retirement. As of June, close to 62.5 million people were receiving a monthly benefit check which includes 43.1 million retired workers.  In Sean Williams’ article he states, “Social Security has been around now for 83 years, and it could easily be around for 83 more, if not much, much longer.” Read his article here…
