Help Mananging Your Social Security Benefit
If you feel you need help managing your Social Security benefits, Social Security will assist you in finding a representative payee. You may choose your own representative payee. You want to choose someone you can trust. They will recieve your montly payment and must pay your monthly expenses with it.
If you want to change your representative payee you need to contact Social Security. Also,if you have been assigned a representative payee and feel you don’t need one.
When you apply for your Social Security benefits you will see the option to name an Advanced Representative Payee. This allows you name people you trust should a time come you can no longer handle your own benefits. This doesn’t give anyone ther right to handle your benefits, but lets Social Security know who to contact. You may apply for an Advanced Representative Payee at any time.
