Saving for retirement can be one of the most daunting of goals, especially if you’re not sure of whether where you are is anywhere near where you should be at your age. Obviously if you’re younger you have more time to build a nest egg, but as the years go by it becomes even more worrisome if you don’t have a benchmark to see if you are on the right track. Rather than an overly simplistic approach of just “save often and save early,” a more methodical approach which looks at where you are compared to others can be helpful.
