SSA Press Release Vows to Cease A Heavy-Handed Clawback Practice

In a press release issued March 20, the Social Security Administration has indicated it will eliminate the “practice of intercepting 100 percent of an overpaid beneficiary’s monthly Social Security benefit by default if they fail to respond to our demand for repayment.” This was one of four separate policy changes planned for the agency, to be supported by “proper education and training across the people, policies, and systems of the agency.” Read the full press release here.
