Trump Administration Takes Major Step in Social Security Fraud Protection

Tactical enhancements to the Electronic Consent Based Social Security Number Verification (eCBSV) system will make it easier for public organizations “to quickly identify instances of identity fraud and stop financial transactions of fraudsters using stolen identities,” according to a post yesterday by House Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith (MO-08). The plan to reduce eCBSV implementation costs, along with reductions in usage fees, are expected to encourage more participation in the security program, Chairman Smith noted in his press release.
