Honoring the Men and Women of the Armed Forces - The AMAC Foundation

Since 1868, America has set aside a day to honor those who’ve fallen in service to the nation. First known as Decoration Day, later officially rechristened as Memorial Day, this solemn day is an opportunity to reflect on the ultimate sacrifice made by so many of our heroes. Earlier this month, we celebrated Armed Forces Day, honoring all currently serving in our armed forces, and in November, we will celebrate Veterans Day to salute all those who have served our country in the past.

Today, however, is that special day we remember all those who died fighting for our country. Don’t be surprised if, at 3:00 PM today, you hear a soulful rendition of Taps playing somewhere. At that time, take a moment to remember all those who never came home – sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters – on this, the most solemn holidays honoring our American heroes.
