Iowa Caucusgoers Show Slight Preference for Social Security Privatization

It’s still about six months until the Iowa Republican caucuses commence, but a Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa poll sought to get a feel for the preferences of those likely to attend. Social Security was one of the seven questions posed in the poll, asking respondents how a candidate’s preference for “privatizing Social Security by allowing people to invest in private savings accounts” would affect their view on the candidate. 35% suggested they would be more likely to favor a candidate who supported this form of privatization, compared to 32% who would be less likely and 29% for whom it would not matter. Read a desmoinesregister.com recap of the full poll here.
