Is the Social Security issue even worse than reported? - The Street

The latest (June) report from the Trustees of Social Security predicts that the SS Trust Funds will be fully depleted in 2033, unless Congress acts soon to reform the program. But, according to at least one retirement research outfit, the Trustees may be overly optimistic. The Center for Retirement Research (CRR) suggests that things may be worse than the SS Trustees are letting on. This article by Christy Rakoczy appearing at The Street posits that several factors, including the fertility rate, immigration policy, and life expectancy, may together combine to make the projected date of Trust Fund depletion even earlier.
