Life Expectancy Among Demographics

Modern advancements in medicine have prolonged the average life span in recent years and it is continuing to trend upwards. However, these numbers are skewed between different demographics. The rich are living longer than the poor. The age gap in life expectancy is also growing between these two groups. One reason that this may be is because of substance abuse among poorer people. Studies have shown that rates of drug overdose, liver disease, and suicide are much higher among the poor than the rich. There are many other correlations between income and health problems, but it is still unclear whether the poor are poor because they are sick or are sick because they are poor.
