We often re-post informational articles from Tom Margenau, a Social Security veteran with decades of experience in the detail trenches. His style of explaining the nuances of Social Security’s rulebook is not only educational but also entertaining. His recent post carried on muckrack.com titled Misinformation from the Next Booth Over is a good example of breaking down a multi-faceted situation into easily digestible parts, in this case, the issue of spousal benefits in the wake of the “when to file” decision. In this example, he explains not only the nuances of the primary beneficiary’s claiming decision but also details the research that spouses (current and ex) need to consider in their own decisions. See, really not that complicated.
