Longer lifespans hit pensions

With new mortality tables approved and issued the last week of October, the first in nearly 15 years, the Society of Actuaries has increased projected lifespan. Men aged 65 are expected to live to 86.6 years on average, up from 84.6 years in 2000, according to the new tables that are the results of a five-year study. Women now 65 years old are expected to live to 88.8 years on average, up from 86.4 years in the 2000 mortality tables. Men will be living two years longer than they were expected to a decade and a half ago, while women will live another 2.4 years. That’s great news, right?..Read More
