Many Don’t Understand How Medicare Works - Motley Fool

A recent survey revealed that many American workers do not understand how Medicare, the program they will rely on for healthcare after age 65, actually works. That lack of knowledge can lead to making poor healthcare decisions in retirement which is, of course, something to be avoided. Like Social Security, Medicare is a huge federal program with lots of rules and regulations, but understanding at least the basics of how Medicare works and what your coverage options are will be helpful as you approach retirement. For example, simply knowing the difference between “original Medicare” and Medicare Advantage is critical to making the right choice when the time comes to enroll. This article by Maurie Backman describes the basics of how Medicare works.
