Medicare reimbursement rates low for local providers

Dozens of local health care providers saw Medicare reimbursement rates dip under 20 percent while some got half the amount they billed for, according to new data recently released by the federal government showing Medicare claims and payments. For the first time since the 1970s, the federal government provided claims and payment figures for individual providers. According to a USA Today report, the country’s 880,644 health care providers that billed Medicare in 2012 saw an average reimbursement of about $90,000, however more than 2,000 of those providers broke $2 million in Medicare receipts...Read More
